The Yummy Mummy: Dishing Up Imperfection

On the Imperfect Kitchen

By Kim Foster

Being one of those people who have hand cured my own salami, both Tuscan and Hungarian, I could take offense. However YM has been entertaining me ever since I followed the trail of offal from Michael Ruhlman's blog to hers, where I read a simply wonderful description of creating coq au vin with a 3 year old hanging on her leg having done similar with the same dish 30 years ago.

I hope to meet her in person some day, if only to give her a pint of home made lime marmalade and her choice of home cured salami.

Anyone who whips up duck pho for dinner with one toddler on the boobie and another at her heels hardly qualifies for imperfection!! The only imperfection I've noted occurs under duress, during some sort of shopping-induced madness or at airports!

Okay, you guys are now my favorites.

It's funny that the two people who commented here first are the two bloggers who are waaaaaaaaaaay more hard core than me.

NTSC, with your Tuscan and Hungarian hand-made salami and Lynn with your adorable child who has never had McDonald's pass over his un-sullied lips.

Everyday, I try to keep you guys in mind when I stand at the stove and think, "What the hell am I gonna serve these nuts?"

Thanks for the kind wishes and support. You guys set the bar...

YM

We may be in trouble, somebody web surfing from the USDA just went from your column here to my blog.

If the food police discover we are using real food we may be in trouble

Sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh! NTSC, I told you not to tell anyone. We use preservatives and nitrates. That's the party line. Go with that.

Do you think they're following us???

Thank God for Google Analytics...
