Should you be responsible for your neighbor's mortgage?

By Julie Marsh

The most important aspect of fixed-income investments is the FIXED part. It's not supposed to change! Mortgage securities are so complicated that not even the legislators understand them.

Excellent article! Very informative. The majority should not have to be subsidizing mortgages that people had no business getting to begin with. It is not my problem if "you" bought a house you couldn't afford. I don't even remember a time in history where other people were responsible for the debt of others. Is this sharing the wealth, but in reverse? Sharing the debt? It's bull. If that happens, I think people should demand that the public also pay their credit card debt as well, I mean why stop at mortgages?

All of this doesn't help anything out if it isn't prevented from reoccuring. This nation have got to stop being so reactionary, and start finding ways to keep jobs here, and make mortgages more manageable. If we had been doing that to begin with, the crisis would have been over before it began.

Make mortgages more manageable? That doesn't make any sense.

Fact is, loans were extended at high interest rates to people with impaired credit who were in no position to make their payments. Lender and buyers alike acted with poor judgment.
