The first day of school in our area is next Tuesday. My son is starting JK. Hubs is taking the day off. I am looking for suggestions on special things to do. A friend suggested taking a picture in a special place, like the front doors or around the fireplace. And then take the first day of school picture there every year. Apparently it's pretty cool to see your child grow in relation to the background. Another suggestion was to do a video every year asking the same questions, you know, whats your name, how old are you, what grade are you starting.
What does everyone else do or done in the past? |

ElleBelly, taking a picture every yr. in a special place is a great idea, my children have done this, when my oldest GD grad, her 12 yrs of school pictures was her first day of school each yr, it was awesome, I like the home pictures far better than the yearly pictures that the school sells,
I have 4 more who will grad in the next 3 yrs, and I'm looking forward to those home pictures, Our 18 yr old GD has a lot of soccer, basketball, swimming, and softball, and this yr, she will have her Sports Med Program pictures also,
She is going into the military, so we are planning a great big party for her, Just remember, one can never have to many pictures. |

Mine are too young for school yet but my sister packs a special first day of school lunch and a little note of encouragement for her kids. I like the idea of taking a picture every year with the same background to see them grow. I will have to do that!
Good luck to you and your little one! |

Well every year we take a piture of my daughter in front of the tree in our front yard and just started doing the same thing with my son. BUT heres what I always wanted to do. If I had more money and time and energy I would buy them a tree to go in our yard and then on their first day of school take their pic in front of it every year and then you can see their tree grow with them.
We have decided that when we move each kid is going to be able to pick out their own tree to help us plant in the yard and it will be their responsiblity to water and take care of it. They can plant any flowers they want to around it every year and we'll place a plaque with their name and date on it at the bottom. I know its kinda sappy (no pun intended ) but when they are grown it will be something cool to see. Anyway, good luck! |
